A few general amp questions.

Hi, nice forum you got here! Here's my question, I have a Rockford 40 dsm, if I run it in tri-mode, is there less wattage available to the bridged sub than if I just run the amp bridged for the sub? Also, ohms. The bench sheet for the amp lists the output as run in 2 ohm, and still less than 1 thd, is it practical to run the amp at two ohms, sound quality wise? Also, how do you test actual ohms? My meter can't send enough juice through the crossovers and speakers and back to give me a reading?

Thanks for the help

Richard

Meh.....quality power is so relatively cheap now-a-day's, there's not reason to even bother with tri-mode anymore. If you want 3 channels in a single chassis, go pick up a quality 4-channel amp and run the front two channels to the speakers, and bridge the rears to a sub. Much more flexible aswell.

Or pick up a decent mono amp to run the sub and run the 40DSM to the speakers.

Yes.

Just test the speaker's individually if you want to know their DCR.

Otherwise, you can obtain the nominal impedance rating from the manufacturer. Even if they are not a current production model, the manufacturer should know.
