a 3-part question?

hi i have a few minor questions:

1. i have some SS deadening on my doors, BOTH on the side in which the speaker mounts on to, AND i placed some on the INNER side of the outside panel. the place where, when you put your hand thru the holes of the door, you can touch. now is one layer enough or does it call for 2 ??

2. i grounded my deck to the wirwall instead of to the car's wiring harness in hopes it will cut back on engine whine etc. i also have an external EQ. should i also ground it to the SAME point as the deck is grounded on the firewall ?? i assume i shouldnt use the ground from the wire harness as well for grounding the EQ?

3. i also heard, to prevent stereo/engine whine, you wrap some small guage wire around the RCA connection behind the deck and then ground the wire to the deck itself. is this correct? if it is, does it matter which RCA's ? i mean, there are generally white and red connector for each set. so do i ground only one of the 2 ?

thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1) More can't hurt.

2) Ground to the same spot.

3) Grounding the barrel of the RCA only helps in certain situations where there is an internal signal gournd issue. This issue is most common with Pioneer HUs. If you don't have a Pioneer, you probably don't have to worry about this.

well, i do in fact have a pioneer and i have been getting engine whine. whenever i give the car more gas, it whines louder. im trying to do as much as possible to eliminate as much noise as possible

so how exactly would i ground the rca barrels? do i do ONLY one of the 2 rca ends OR both?

Maybe one of your wires is ran to close to something that has juice.

Myth. Unless he has is wrapped around the ECU or the blower motor, you aren't going to have radiated noise in a car system. Both of the above sound very different from alt whine, anyway.

If you ground one end of the cable, you have grounded the other. Just worry about the end next to the HU. Wrap a small length of stripped wire around the barrel portion of the RCA plug and connect the other end to ground.

ok. but do i wrap wire around both ends of the set of rca's or only the one? i have a white and red colored rca ends. i also have more than one set of rca's. so do i wrap wire around the barrels onthe rca's on all sets?
