9835 vs 9855

How does the screen/sq of the 9835 compare to the 9855? I have the option to get a new 9835 for $15 more than a $9855. Would it be worth the money, even though it is last years model? Is the screen as bright, does it have animations?

I've installed both a 9835 and 9855 and had time to audition them for a little bit. both are good units. both are capable of sounding amazing I perfer the 9835 over the 9855. the 9835 has 5 animations i kept it on the minimal info screen on black out mode. i couldnt get myself to like the glide touch. alot of people have mixed opinions on the 9855. my suggestion would be to listen and tinker with both of them before you buy it.

what maybe the best unit to person A will differ from person B

I cannot test the 9835. Is the screen as bright/nice as the 9855? The glide touch does not bother me. Glidetouch not considered, which deck would you take?

9835 is considered one of the last great sq decks from alpine.

no, not "large" persay, but it IS audible on amplified aftermarket speakers.

I own one and it's a good deck but still doesnt live up to my expectations and the new alpines **** ARSE! Im an installer and i see them from time to time, still have yet to have one that doesnt black out when you tap on its faceplate....amongst other problems...

I recently bought a 9835...but I had the opportunity to see one in action and get an idea of its capabilities long before I ordered it...we'll see what it does in my setup.

9835 is the last great Alpine HU - (2004)

Then came that horrid glide bar 9855....... The SQ should be the same between the models

If you can grab a 9835 or even a 9833 for a good price your getting the best SQ Alpine offers as far as I know
