9835 or 8454...not normal comparison

I you are considering the 701 processor, then the 9835 is your deck. If you want one of the best decks out there with an internal amp and all the great features - including Eclipse sound //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif then that is a pretty easy allocation of $330 IMO...heck I bought a used 8454 back in the day for $315.

I'd also throw the DRZ-9255 in the mix if you plan to go active 3 way up front in the future. Never hurts to plan a head ~ which I know nothing about it of course, but that's what "they" tell me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Also, I switched FROM an Eclips 8053 with BLA adapter TO my Alpine 9835... and liked it A LOT more //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

I need 5 good reasons right now NG //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I have no bias towards either, Im just not very informed on the 9835.

The 9255 is almost twice as expensive if not more than the 8454 and the 9835, while only offering 18dB octave slopes and less equalization options. Other than the high quality CD transport, which I cant see it being that much better than the offerings of Eclipse or Alpine justifies the huge inflation in price and less tuning options (even though it does offer 4 way xovers)

well it seems like you want the alpine more so then get it. but in terms over flexbility tuning wise, the alpine doesn't come close IMO.
Just b/c you're on Eclipse's nuts doesn't mean the alpine doesn't come close //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif...

The alpine has a much superior display, easier menu navigation, much easier file navigation, easier control of immediate needed functions, easier track navigation, great on screen active xover, iPersonalize, etc, etc, etc.

I'm not doggin on the Eclipse at all, and I'm not a complete Alpine wh0re either. But to say the 9835 doesn't come close to the Eclipse is absolutely ludicrous.

I for one will be picking up a CD7000. Then we'll see if my 9835 is for sale or not.

lol okay okay maybe it does come a lil close. don't get me wrong, the 9835 is a fine unit and if i had a choice of an alpine HU that would be it but still facts are facts and the eclipse is better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

If you don't like the CD7000 i'll trade yah my 8455 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

i'm in the process of switiching between an eclipse 8443 and alpine 9835. what intriqued me about the alpine was the xm and ipod capabilites. the only big difference i see in processing is eq. alpine 5 band peq vs. eclipse 10.

Not necessarily.

Simply put, it's a matter of opinion. My good friend has had an 8455... twice. So I've had extensive hands-on experience with it. Not impressed overall... I like the ease of use and navigation of my 9835 better.

when i meant facts are facts eclipse is better what i meant is that it has better tuning options. again real time tuning, more bands on PEQ, attenuation all the way down to -30db. again not to mention 8v preout, 55 ohm input impedance and 24bit DAC.

but yes its all opinion but i'm just pushing forward the facts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

I have the ability to trade my brand new indash screen...which ive been trying to sell for quite a long time (4+ months) for a 1 month old 9835. The seller has promised to include a brand new faceplace along with $100.
The problem is...I can try try and wait a little bit longer and sell the unit for $400-450 and pick up a brand new cd8454 for $330.

Im planning on running a set of Image Dynamics horns along with Ascendant Audio Poly mids or the ology mids if they live up to the hype...along with ever being released.

Which should I go for?
horn setup? Go with the better front stage tuning deck... that would be the 8454 that will give you 5 bands of PEQ for the horns themselves, and 5 bands for your midbass.
