i put the crossover behind the door panel. you run your wires from there. the factory tweeter location does have to be slightly modified but it isnt hard at all, and theyre dirt cheap to replace.

as far as the type s line being better than type r im not too sure, i heard both about 2 years ago and the type s tweeters were too harsh but who knows, theyve gone through 2 redesigns since then.
