I got a 97 3.8 that I plan to do the big3 w/ 0awg to run a MBQ 1500D and a MBQ 4.125 A/B.
As GP owners know, there's a fuse box right between the alt and battery. Do I include the box with the run from the alt to battery? Also can I ground the motor/chassis from the alternator case to the shock tower, and the chassis/battery from the shock tower to the battery?
I also got this dude (who thinks he's audio king) telling me I dont need a HO alt, that my stock 105a will feed 2000w no problem. I call BS... Especially considering the accessories need 30a reserve at a minimum... (105a - 30a = 75a) 75a x 14.4v = 1080w.
I already get nasty dimming w/ just the 1500. The amp isn't clipping and the HU isn't cutting out, but the dimming at night is ridiculous. Now I can get a 220a Delco that puts out @ 1,200rpm for $170, and I realise 220 is overkill, but my other option is a 170a bosh @ 1,600rpm for $168. Why not go for 50 extra amps @ 400rpm sooner right? I dont see anything lower than 160a being sufficient.
