96 GMC Ext cab build

Wow thats great and I bet they sound good to huh ?
Yea, they can get down and dirty when needed ... and still give nice rich dynamic sound ...

Three layers of 3/4" mdf, 1/4" mdf for the piece that wedges against the door pannel ... and a 8" grille ...

Wish you was closer, I'd give this set up to you (well, not the drivers or the grilles) cause I'm changing mine up to 8" drivers soon ...

I will be working my doors "double duty" ... they will work as my midbass and sub bass drivers ... I will not be running subs this Sound Quality competition season ...

gonna mess with some folk's minds ... LOL

Sounds cool! Looks like you moved the speaker hole upward some ? I was thinking it would be hard to match the mdf up to the curve on the lower part of the door panel but it looks like you got it to match up nice. How hard was it ?

Actually, it matched up to the exact angle of the origional drivers ... So the angle you see in the pic is stock, just extended out past the door panel ...

making trim rings is easy ... the only real hard part with this upgrade is to be careful when cutting your door panels and not cut too much so the outer ring can cover the cuts ... also doing it this way makes it easy if you ever wanted to sharpen up your fiberglassing skills ...

I see so the the hole in door panel goes around the rings and the 1/4 covers the door panels and screws down to 3/4 mdf so door 3/4 3/4 3/4 doorpanel 1/4 and grill right ?

Absolutely ...

But in all honnestly ... With your amount of sub bass ... Wait until I measure out and build my upgrade to a single 8" driver in each door and I will be glad to give you all of the details for upgraded midbass ...

I will be starting this project immediately after the hollidays ...
