9515 the best?

I'm looking for the best 15" sub to run off my orion2500d (1ohm). Don't want to spend more than 600 and the dd 9515 seems good for my price and it doesnt need more than 6 cubes, which is pretty much my limit. Any other suggestions that would be a better sub than this?

It depends on what type of performance you want out of it. SPL or SQ.

There is no such animal as the "best" sub, as it is so subjective as to what that means. Listen to as many as you can and make a decision, thats all you can do unless you have unlimited resources. Imho the enclosure, tuning, and install make as much if not more of a difference than the actual sub used (provided you are comparing subs in the same price/build quality range)

the 9515 is a proven sub, period.

enclosure will make or break you, but it can only do so much. there's a lot of inherent qualities of a speaker that you will just have to sacrifice one thing to gain another. or find one that is the middle of the road for your intended goals.

as for build quality, DD is about the most anal and strict you will find.

with a big box and a nice low tuning, maybe around 30 or 32Hz, itll wang hard, low, and nicely.....

DD makes SPL monsters, yes, but from what I understand of the 95/99 series subs they still maintain very decent quality

I've owned two 2515's and the quality was very good on the subs, and they got PLENTY loud for my half *** built enclosure

Point of the matter is, DD pulls out incredible numbers and sacrifices very little sound quality, from what I've know/ from what I've used

9500's make for good daily drivers...

if you wanna save your self some money get a aq hd3...not quite a 9500...but still **** nice...

they're up there with the best of subs. in the right enclosure they should give you both spl and very decent sq. just make sure you have enough room in your vehicle for a decent size enclosure to make sure you can get the sound you're looking for from them. great sub.

not sure yet. Most likely a lincoln town car which has tons of trunk space. Not possitive yet though so thats just why I'm doing some research and not buying..
