C0CK,its whats for dinner
Well, I am at it again with a new enclosure for my 18" Destroyer. There are no t/s parameters for this sub, so I am basically building in the dark, which is why I have built five or six enclosures in the past couple months for this driver.

This will be the largest of the boxes I have built, still trying to see what it likes. I am looking for the lows here, so I am tuning low and increasing airspace. I chose this massive amount of port to see what kind of flexing I can get out of it:D

The build should take place on Saturday, as long as I get my tax return on time tomorrow...

Here is a quick sketch-up of the box. The box will be in the back of my 2dr Cherokee, and will extend up to about six inches from the ceiling, eliminating my back window.

Yeah bro, I'm pretty sure I pmed you about it; since you had the other one... I don't think you got back to me.
No help?
eh, this forum sucks as far as pms go.

I'll help in any way I can.

I do know that with the lower tuning, the greater the airspace and port area help ALOT. I put one in a box for an 18" HC I had - 6.5 cuft after disp tuned to 35. It got a lil peaky and felt like it was being strangled on the lows. So I tested the other in a 7.5 cuft box tuned to 32 with 75 sq in port. Dramatic results to the ear and way more flex. As of now, I am 1/2 done building the final resting place for both (I hope). 16.3 cubes after disp, 276 sq in of port, tuned to 28hz, sub and port up (port against rear hatch of the Trailblazer)

Lemme know how that box treats you - I might let mine have a few more cuft if it helps...

hope you got some painkiller for your back...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

So what was the port area on the 6.5 cuft box in comparision to the 7.5 cuft box, was the same sub used in both tests?

These results you guys get are very interesting to me because I'm pretty much in the same boat that you guys are.

I'v got my 18" BTL in 6.7 cubes @ 31hz, but it feels "like it was being strangled on the lows" I want to try the same design that your doing Phatty, but a little smaller, only about 8.0 cuft after sub. SiX and Phatty do you guys have msn, aim or xfire?

I believe there was 75 on that as well. Yes the same sub was used in both tests. First a 18" HC in each box - then a 18" Destroyer.

My AIM is: SiXStatiC

Id dbl the whole enclosure and mount the sub facing the front.
I will be using either threaded rod or wooden dowels for extensive bracing, not sure which yet but I think doubling up the entire enclosure is not needed.

And face the sub forward, meaning on the same plane as the port or the other side, towards the dash? Facing it back with the port always gives me some nasty hatch rattles, and doesn't gain me much, if anything.

I have never been so excited for a build, I can't wait to hear this:)

Pics and possibley vids should be up by Sunday.

On the same plane as the port. The sub wont have much room to breath up there and it will rattle the roof like a tin can. Threaded rod if your not doubling up on the largest planes.
