8W7 and 250/1 or...? Want SQ in small package.

So I decided to keep my Audison. I was originally going to sell it and use my old Alpine MRV-F345 to power my whole system, with the rear channels bridged to a small sub. I worked a lot more during the Christmas season though, so have enough to keep the Audison and add another amp.

Cliffnotes:

-Going in a Mustang coupe

-Box needs to be tiny because it is going to fit behind my rear shock tower brace

-Budget is about $500 for everything

-Already have 4 gauge in there now, just going to get a dist. block

for now until I upgrade the Big 3, when I will get bigger power/ground cable

-Want SQ

-Considering 8W7 and 250/1 or if I can get a deal on last year's SRx amps from my local guy, I'll pick up a small 250 or 400w Audison mono and get a pair of ID 8s or something else you guys recommend. Main concern is SQ, but want it to bump on heavier bass tracks...

-Probably have .5-.75 ft^3 to work with

Depending on what is available, I'm also considering a last-year model Audison SRx 4ch amp to go active, then use my current LRx for the sub(s)...thoughs on that route?

Oh yea, I've never built a box myself, but not opposed to having someone on here a.) build me one, or b.) help me build it. I'm okay with wiring and tuning though. The $500 limit includes box material/labor too.

250 is too small IMO. I would go with the 500/1 if you want to stick to jl amps

The 8w7 is an awesome little sub, but it is rather deep, I also would bump up to the 500/1 on that sub. I would reccomend going with the 8w3v3 and sticking with the 250/1

Ok thanks. What about some non-Jl recommendations? I'm guessing people are seeing JL in the title and staying away...I'm open to pretty much any recommendation. Jusst figured the 8w7 would be a decent compromise of SQ and bump for a small space. I know there are other, cheaper drivers out there though.

The 8' Diamond D9 is a pretty nasty little sub.

Maybe even an IDQ10 or 12? Don't the IDs like bigger sealed boxes than what's recommended though?

How bout an 8" Assassin? What size ported enclosure would be good for that?

I would suggest a 12w6...smaller enclosure and has great SQ

Really a 12? I'm thinking a 10. You should see the area I have to work with. I will take some pics. My requirement is that the box HAS to fit behind my rear shock tower brace. I'm not sure what to do with my amps either....

in that case a 10 sealed would work...i personally would go with the 500/1 but a 250/1 would b fine

Well the only reason I was looking at the JL amps was because I was thinking about the W7 with the 3ohm VCs. I'm open to other amps. I'm going to see if my local guy will give me a deal on last year's Audison SRx amps.
