8v pre-outs ok with this amp?

I just bought a Precision Power 600x4 amp and now im shopping around for head units. I've been looking at this eclipse one for a while with 8 volt pre outs but the guy at the store mentioned something to me about how the amp might not accept such a high voltage pre out. He said i would have to turn the gain most of the way down or something... wth, is this true? If it is can someone explain it to me?

Pic of the amp just in case...

it depends on how much you want to push to the sub....most all amps are setup to take up to 8v preout voltage, it doesnt hurt having the gain low (less work on the amp and more room for upgrades) correct me If I'm wrong guys

But i see what you mean about the amp not having to work as hard. If you give it higher inputs it doesnt need to work as hard to achieve the same power output. I was thinking this too which is one of the many reasons i was looking into the eclipse.

I heard on another forum that some amps are not designed to take 8v preputs and will burn up because of it... Prolly false tho.
i think that was part of his question (implied). but i'm ASSUMING again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

i've heard that same thing. just don't unplug the rca's with your HU turned ON. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

KA-THUMP!

FTW!

But it would be interesting to know whether or not it burns up an ammp.. B/C I've got 8v preouts and I def fdon't want to burn up my amps!
