880PRS vs 8053

prs man

i used one for a lil while and it had phenominal SQ and EQ flexibility...... **** the alpine

Ummm, 8053 would be about 2-3 years ago top of the line ECLIPSE....not alpine, but yea.

I've owned my 880 for probably around 4 months, and it is deffinitely worth it IMO.

At first I wasn't too excited when switching from my Nak CD400, I LOVED that HU but it was time to move on, I wanted to get out of the limited market for passive setups (to me anyway) and had to go active. SQ wise, at first it was close to that of the Nak, but after you take the time to sit down and tune the crap out of it...it blows the Nak out of the water IMO.

I have no experience w/ the 8053 though, but if it makes a difference I was in the same boat as you and decided to get the 880.

I recently jumped aboard the 880 wagon and I love it... it's got a ton of features, simple, and once you learn how to use it everything is perfect. I love the simplicity of the white light //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i say eclipse 8053. eclipse is known for their SQ but i don't put much into that. what i do put into flexbility. eclipse has a 10 band PEQ, 8v preout, 55 ohm input impedance and much more flexible crossover selections than the 880 prs. i guess if mp3 is important to you than maybe the 880 but 8053 IMO has more flexbility in terms of tuning.

Eclipse, hands down

You dont need any fancy EQ's or BBE for it to sound good.

Ive run a 860,940,8443 and a 9855 in the same setup, the eclipse sounds the best.

Its not beauty queen..

ya i just got owned...some reason i though that series # an alpine series..... i'd still stick with the prs though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

dude i had bolt decks they are talking about. the 880 walks them bolth in loos, sq,and coolness factor.....
IMO go 880. it is worth it.
what the hell did you just say?

if all you do is play just cd's, i'd go with the eclipse. but if you want ipod, mp3, sat. radio you'll want to look into something else. also its been mentioned before that the eclipse has low impedence rca's and you can run 16v balanced rca's with it

**edit**

you need the adapter to run balanced, and you can play mp3's if you get the optional eclipse commander.

I think I'm going to go with the Pioneer. I haven't bought a new CD in about two years, I've downloaded everything. I also love SAT radio compared to regular radio, so that's another vote for the Pioneer.

Anyone interested in a Eclipse 8053?

I have had a 880, 8053 and now a 9835 all runinng active. I like the 9835 for the sub control when active, the others you have to go deep into the menus to adjust sub. Sq I would have to say they are all very close ( with tuning). The eclipse rca outputs are the best of the 3. The 880 ipod feature works well. If your using mp3s go with 880 or 9835, the eclipse wont play them even with the commander, Thats what I have been told by my Eclipse dealer. Guess the software update for the commander to play mp3s never came out. anyway you go it will take some tuning to get them to sound the way you want.
