880prs/800prs users or EQ experts??

yea 16 bands is a good amount. more would still be better, but its ok.
to get the best sound will require lots of playing around. cross things over where it sounds best, and eq things till it sounds right.
god, I would love for you to come tune my car...you seem like an EQ expert. thanks for the input bro

but he would tune it for his ears and not yours //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Play music you're VERY familiar with and pick a freq and boost it all the way up and all the way down, so you can hear exactly what in the music it effects. Do this for ALL of the EQ bands on your HU.

and if you listen to new rap then don't bother as it all sounds like crap no matter what you do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

bitch

was that sarcasm? lol
actually it really wasn't sarcasm. I know you use the RTA and are good with the EQ, but as "mlstrass" said it would be to your ears, not mine. I'm pretty good with the EQ but being OCD I mess with it till I wear all the buttons off the head unit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif:laugh:

well thanks then. most people here don't seem to have nice things to say(hence me asking)... so thanks!

but yes, i would tune it to my ears, which you may like or you may not like. but, i like to think my system sounds fairly accurate and easy to listen to, so most people should like it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

just keep playing with things until they sound right to you.

but honestly, i have learned recently that the EQ should be the last thing you should mess with. crossover points & slopes, phase, and even T/A can have a bigger effect than the EQ will. play pink noise on your system and swap polarity on a tweeter or mid and you'll hear a huge difference. or play pink noise with just the tweeters or just the mids on (but more so on the tweeters) and adjust the T/A a notch or two and you'll hear a difference.

I'm not sure why you would use pink noise to find the correct phase/polarity of your speakers.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif You should use track 3 on the IASCA test disc. If you don't have it, I post it up using z-share, just search the threads i've made.

Pink noise should be used when you RTA (EQ). I agree that EQing should be last in line when tuning, but I wouldn't say that EQ doesn't have as much an 'effect' as the other tools.

EQs are commonly used for tonality purposes, but it can also help with a center image (if you have separate L/R eq capabilities). Boosting/cutting certain frequencies can also have various effects on the soundstage. Using the EQ can help raise your stage and also give it more depth if you know which frequencies to adjust.

blah blah blah

i wasn't using it to find the correct phase. just playing with stuff.

i do use pink noise to rta.

i have a l/r and have good center image.

which frequencies can you play with to get added depth and height?

2k for height and 5k for depth?
