looking at the 880prs or 800prs and was wondering what the ultra low and low frequencies(20, 31.5, 50. and even 80hz) in the 16-band graphic EQ actually do when boosting or cutting them?? If your mids/highs are cossed at 85 or 90 do adjusting these low frequencies affect your subwoofers??? They seem like useless bands to boost/cut so I was just wondering if there was any benefits to have these on the graphic EQ?? thanks

Yes, adjusting the bass frequencies on the EQ will affect the signal to the amp and to the subs. If you're looking to cut some bass out of the mids/highs to see if it's the tinsel lead problem, cut the 80, 100, 120 and 140hz range or whatever frequencies are possible in that range.

hey bro, thanks for reply back. actually this question is not related to the tinsel lead thing. I actually tried lowering the bass on my deck and if anything it cut in and out worse so now I am back to square one?? just wondering what boosting or cutting these frequencies(20, 31.5, 50) really does in respects to SQ?

if you have a peak or dip at or around one of those frequencies you can fix it with those EQ points.

hmmmm, I have the 880, and with the 16 band...its a lot to tune...
not to thread jack but how do you know what to cross your speakers, or how should the eq be setup
yea 16 bands is a good amount. more would still be better, but its ok.

to get the best sound will require lots of playing around. cross things over where it sounds best, and eq things till it sounds right.

what the $%#@ is so dumb about it genius? and if its so dumb why would you take the time to reply to it. sorry its not a question to your standards buddy

What's so dumb about it? The whole question. I'm just being blunt, and if you're offended by it, then oh-****ing-well.

The EQ bands of 20, 31.5, and 50hz will, of course, adjust those frequencies. And if your speakers are hi-passed over above those frequencies, then adjusting those bands won't affect those speakers... no shit, because those speakers aren't playing those frequencies (depending on the slope).

Searching/reading beforehand can prevent stupid questions.

Maybe if you had a subwoofer playing sub frequencies, if you don't already, you might notice a difference in sound when adjusting those sub frequencies on the EQ.

It all depends on what equipment you are using as to what frequencies they will be able to play distortion free, and what you want it to sound like.

Woke up on the left side of the bed today? Yea?

I have the 800PRS and Ive messed with the EQ quite a bit. The 31.5 band helps on the SUPER low bass in some songs. The 20hz doesnt really do a whole lot since most music doesnt go that low.

You know how some amps come with "BASS BOOST". Well, you can use the eq the same way.

And dont pay attention to the idiots on this forum, some think hey are Gods gift to car audio (which isnt saying much) and cant even offer some simple advice.

thanks bro, just what I needed to hear. Its weird cause on my deck(deh MP780) I have a bass frequency eq with a selectable 40, 80, 100, or 160 center frequency and even when selecting the 40 or 80hz frequencies it does not change my subs one bit. Just was wondering if the low frequencies on the 880prs were tapped into the subs pre-out and had impact on them. thanks for clearing it up...

james bang: thanks for the great advice man, get a good night sleep //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif but honestly no hard feelings. your comment pissed me off for a sec but no big deal. I know some posts piss me off and sound stupid, but personally I find no need to reply to say that, unless it was really bad. Thought I had some valid questions, but its all good bro
