hey everyone whats up. im gonna start driving in january, and i want to get a nice system for my mustang for christmas. what would you guys suggest? i dont want something that is going to blow everyone away because of my budget, but i also dont want something that people are going to laugh at. i want a pretty decent system that comes with reliability and a price that i can handle any suggestions would be great.

i was thinking roughly around $300 (give or take) for the head unit. and maybe pay around 120 for each set of speakers. i dont think im gonna get subs or an amp yet. im just looking for a nice head unit and some speakers. i'll probably just get my bro's orion subs off of him.

wow well you should get a deck with 3 pre out and and personally i have some rockford fosgate 6x9 and they hit like hella with out an amp and with the amp...that an oh boi hehe

Clarion has a few very nice CD players for under $300 online.

Clarion's put out crystal clear sound and good power.

The new models (the aluminum flip down face) have 3-4 volt RCAs, an EQ, a remote and good looks to boot.

I just sold my '88 GT convertible and asked myself the same questions you are asking.

The Fox body Mustangs have poor speaker placement. The sound goes directly into you leg and kills the highs. I'd go with a midbass driver for the door and a set of 2-way 3 1/4's, with an inline x-over, for the dash. Otherwise Look for a set of component speakers and mount the highs up higher while trying your best to keep them the same distance from your ear as the mid.

If your rear speakers are in the molding under the seat as they were in my convertible you'll want a component set of 6 1/2's for that too as the carpet and board covering kills your sound levels.

I'd get same manufacture speakers throughout to keep the tones matching.

Good luck to you in whatever you choose.
