$800

you can do more than that with $800. You probably won't be able to get good equiptment and still be able to do electrical work done. So i say keep it under 1500 watts rms for sure. two type R's would be cool but there's so many more options. Look around the classifieds and see if you can find some stuff. are you going to build your own box? are you set on 2 12s?

a HU i would recomend would be the pioneer 6800 it's basically the 7800 (i have one and love it) but the 6800 has a more simple screen.

Are you looking to get really loud or do you want nice SQ or a mixture?

Ascendant Audio has nice subs, but i think they;re sold out as of now. Are you willing to buy used or do you want all brand new stuff?

mm i dont really trust used stuff when it comes to electronics. I was looking more for SQ than SPL, but i would like both. I'm pretty set on 2 12's but i am an open minded person and willing to look into anything. I think i will be buying a box and i like the deck (i was looking at that earlier myself). IYO are those aresenals better than the Type-Rs? or is there something else that will top both in the same price range?

EDIT: im not sure how clear it was but SQ is my main concern

Giving your situation, Arsenals would probably be better, considering they are a SQ sub, but they aren't quiet either (Xluben has some vids of his two 12"s with some nice flexing going on //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif). I just suggested the Arsenals, I'm sure someone else will have an opinion on something else, but what I posted above would sound great and get loud.

About your box though, don't buy one. Build one. Buying a sealed box is ok, but generally, if you set your stuff up right, you get better low-end with a ported box, and chances are good you won't find a good ported box tuned exactly how you wanted in your price range (you'd have to get it custom built from someone on the forums or a local shop). In other words, it'd be best for you to build your own ported box.

I don't blame you for not wanting used equipment. I wouldn't either. First of all do you have a good head unit? That is were I would start. A good head unit will do wonders for your system. It is your command central. Given your budget 2 Arsenals would be a good ideal. You could also go with just 1 12' type R. Even 1 will pound very nicely. Make sure you have a ported box in either case for more boom. The above sugestion of the Pioneer Premier 680 is a good one, or you can go with a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X590 . Either one and you should be off to the races. Good luck!

I had 1 12 R in a honda accord 4 door and i really liked it and it was in a prefab ported box which was "tuned" around 40-45 hz if i had to guess. who knows what it'd sound like in a true ported box. If you don't want to build your own box look around the forum for local people who might build you one. A lot of people on the forum will build you one for cost + shipping, but the shipping is what will kill you on a dual 12 box so if you find someone close you'll save big. but i good enclosure is a must whether it is sealed or ported. Just make sure if you get a prefab sealed box that it is 3/4 inch mdf wood.

But back to the subs, i think you will really like two type Rs but if you give them as much as they need it might put a drain on your electrical. Two AA arsenals or assasins would be nice and AA has diagrams they recomend for ported boxes for their subs.

So in other words here is my suggested setup.

Pioneer 6800

Hifonics 1500 D

this box

pair of Alpine type R

You could find those type R for cheaper on this forum and you could build your own box if you like. But that setup is roughly $820 but if you get those subs on this board and build your own box you could get it down to around $700

Humm, one thing about type r's is they need alot of power so if you are looking at 2 your going to need anywere from 1200-1500 rms to push them. They can handle more, but that should get the job done. They are power hungry. I run just one 12' type R with some good juce and it pounds.

very true, it doesn't NEED a lot of power to get moving, but it definatly can take it. Just look at the Hifonics amps on that website and pick your poison. Just remember the 06s are much closer to their actual RMS rating while the 05 can be off by as much as 300 watts.
