8" subwoofer question

Just bought a 2000 avalon. rear sub is blown. 8" speaker, 4ohm, stock sub that came with the JBL system.

Can someone offer any advice on what to replace this with? Toyota wants 270.00

I'm not very knowledgable about these things so I'm depending on some reliable advice.

have a 2001 Toyota Avalon XLS with the same problem. I did some research online and discovered that you need to install a (free air) subwoofer. I found one at millionbuy.com for 35.95 + 10.55 shipping. It is a Kicker 05C84 8" 200w subwoofer. I removed the old subwoofer from the plastic ring it was attached to in order to be able to use the oem white plug that is attached to it. I centered the new speaker on the plastic ring which the old sub was mounted on. I then used and electric screw driver fasten the new subwoofer to the plastic ring since it did not fit exactly like the original one. I then extended the length of the wires coming from the original harness by splicing and quickconnecting new wire to the red and black leads so that they would could be connected to the new sub. I reinstalled everything back in the car and plugged in the original plug. Turned on the radio and it sounds GREAT!!!

millionbuy still sells the 8" C series. Or if you want to get 2 in order to keep a spare, get them for $80 shipped with full warranty.
