8" subs----$50 max....

well $50 max for each sub. i can get two 9Kv.2's for $80 for both, or i can get Tang Band 8's....any other reccomendations....? i've always wanted to use some 8's.......oh yea, going for SQ on this.

i've always wanted to do an 8" setup.....i just finally decided to do one. im going from an eD 13Ov.2 to two 8's, so hopefully i wont be dissappointed.... im going to do a sealed setup for now, do the assassins fare well in a vented box?? i think they are more suited for sealed, but im not sure....

edit: i just looked at the aa site and they are showing .6 cubes @ 40Hz for a vented box......is that right? aren't they more of an SQ company.....i've heard they are starting to go a bit more SPL oriented....

i havent bought them yet, so i guess i should ask, the assassins are SQ/SQL oriented arent they..?

they should do great in either a sealed or vented box.

i believe you're being thrown off by the high tuning frequency, but you have to remember that they're 8's and they don't have the same frequency response curve as a 12.

if you want a little bit deeper response you could try a slightly bigger box and a bit lower tuning frequency. i believe they chose that recommendation because most people buy an 8 to save space, but if you tune it that high you will still get good peak output levels.

also, i would probably consider the whole assassin line more towards SQ.

Yeah the higher tuning frequency is just to give them a flat response, you can tune them lower but you have to treat these as woofers and not subwoofers...most music doesnt drop below 35-40 anyway...

Well most of the music I listen too...Ive ran all of them through a freqency test and most music that I listen to(Metal, Alternative, Rap, R&B etc.) rarely drop below 35...some do...but even then its even rarer to have something drop below 30. I listen to almsot EVERYTHING (except country, unless its old school) and I have about 5 gigs of MP3s and ive played most of them in my car...
