8" RL-i

I have done a little research and SS subs seem to be a great deal. I have a JBL 600.1 and was thinking about getting a 12" RL-P. Then I started reading up on the RL-i 8s. How impressive would two of these be in a sealed enclosure? For the price I would go for the 12 RL-p because it would be cheaper than 2 8s but I would love to have something different and the wow factor would be better with 2 8s. These would be getting 300 wrms in a sealed enclosure because i don't have a ssf.

If you want output your going to want to port them. Even without a SSF you can still go ported as long as you port the box low.

I hooked 2 of them up rather quickly sealed. But they were inverted:( And ran them off about 1000 watts. They got pretty loud but the difference in the ported box is amazing. And you only running them on 300 watts each, I don't know if that would be enough power and output for you.

If there is anyway you can get ahold of a new amp then I would fully recommend sealed. But with your power option ported would be the best bet.

How much power can these subs take? I don't have the money for a new amp right now. The problem with porting them is I am going to be putting whatever sub/s I get in a spare tirewell enclosure, which has a volume of around 1.25 cuft. Keep in mind that I have never even had a system before so pretty much anything is going to be loud for me and it is going in a hatchback.

Well my ported box is 1.25 cubic feet for two of them. It is tuned to 35hz. You could tune to 30hz and probably not have to worry about it.

There RMS is 500 watts but they took the 1200+ from my orion like a champ.

And as long as you dont expect them to get as loud as 2 12's ported then sealed will be a good option. Just remember they are 8's. But one of the best 8's I have had the pleasure of using.

If I were to go with the 12 RL-p it would be sealed also. I definitely don't expect them to get as loud as 2 12s ported. Any ideas of what numbers you are hitting?

if you put them in a ported box, they will bottom out about a half octave below the tuning frequency. (and octave below is dividing by 2, you can do the math to find a half octave). so figure the lowest frequecnies music will play is around 30, 35hz...

id tune them close to 30... but SSF is definatly recommended for ported boxes - period.

The only problem is the amp I have doesn't have one. Does anyone sell them and how much are they?
