Deadening doesn't always help with sound pressure. However, it's very possible.

86yota is correct I have the same car, and it is not easy, you have to go through metal, alot of padding, and alot more metal. And the placement of the fueltank leaves a large hump.

Where there's a will, there's a way. Only remove what you need, leaving a skeleton structure to still support the seat. Or, make a new back for the seat out of a board with lots of holes in it... or something. Hell I dunno, but Im confident there are things could be done to improve the situation.

I have a '98 Grand Marquis and I feel your pain... Trying my best to work with the awkward trunk layout. Once it gets out of the body shop I got a roll of raammat waiting in my garage for the trunk. my boy had 2 pro cast 15's in a mgm sealed in that big part past the tank. they were LOUD off the 2700w mmats, he had his arm rest cut out it helped a little too. you should be able to fit 4 12's sealed down in there firing up and still have a decent sized box. might not get the numbers but it will be loud to the ear.

Another thing that will help is to remove all that black foam padding behind the rear seat. I had (4) 12s sealed and never had a problem getting it loud enought for me, but I never got it metered either, wasnt interested. Def remove those rear 6x9, in those cars it makes a huge difference.

I say f*ck it, if you want to do 8 12s cool, if not 4 ported then thats cool too. Either way its going to be loud period.

I cut out that metal wall behind my back seat as well, not completely, but enough if I have my backseat out, its a straight shot into my trunk. And thank you guys so much for all teh help so far and lets keep it coming. I think I need a new box design, and voltage.
