8:1 port ratio guideline

Haven't built it yet
But why would separating it change anything? Like if I ran a small piece of MDF down the center and turned it into 2 separate ports, it would be better?

ya thats what the guideline is for , im assuming its better, due to the fact that beyond the ratio the port tuning is off . .

so was it determined how the tuning was affected ? lower/higher ?
