700w @ 1 ohm

I am new to the car audio world and just need some kind of help. I have decided on a set of subs already, pioneer ts-256dvc. They are dual 4 ohm and have an rms of 350w each. Ill be getting 2 of them. So that leaves me with the option of a mono 1 ohm stable @ 700w or a 2-channel bridged 4 ohm @ 700w, right? The thing is, I can't find either choice at 700w RMS! Any suggestions? Also, I don't know much about pioneer subs but would overpowering them to lets say 750w be a problem?

hey man, i'm in central NY too...

Anywho, grab yourself a 1000-1200rms amp (200$ or so) and just set the gain down to around 800rms (using a digital multimeter)

Overpowering them slightly with a CLEAN signal will open them up wonderfully //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

However, if your gain and bass boost are cranked, = poof... no more pioneers

Thanks for the help but where do i get a digital multimeter and how much are they? And is it possible to turn the gain down without one?

it is possible to eye ball it but it's not recommended and NOT accurate. a DMM is cheap and easy to use, and will make yours subs last longer if used correctly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
