$70 To Spend on a New 10" Sub

you know the BL of the Sony or the Pioneer subwoofer in question? obviously not if it's part of your argument.
no, nor do i care to look it up, since i know it's low. i know they are they are weak, and no amount of research is going to change that

haha, yah, i suppose every sub is going to see it's vd no matter what you do with it, and they are all the same, huh?
Of course not but we have a criteria in place. One that's pretty limited by low a power requirement. Most high BL drivers today also have a high moving mass coupled with very stiff suspensions. Both of which would be ideal for a small sealed enclosure (assuming this driver yields the expected low Qts), but not with 130 watts. He needs a low power, low moving mass, soft suspension driver that will be responsive to low power and doesn't cost very much. Pioneer and Sony have some pretty good offerings for that criteria. Remember, it's all relative.

here's a good one for you.......BL product on Lowther mids is always extremely high as their B product is through the roof, sensitivity at 2.83V/1m is average of 94dB broadband. BL product on Fostex FE166En is a measly 7.65TM.....guess what it's sensitivity is at the same 2.83V/1m? 94dB. I have a set of horns designed to give extension down to 35Hz at triangulated 9' distance with the driver Fs value of 53Hz.....are there any more valueless parameters you want to throw out there?

relevence being, i found a way to get the junk off the shelf, without "technically" doing anything wrong.... your recomendation was the worst. vas and compliance aren't going to mean much when there is a real weak bl (it's going to have 2x the effect on what it's actually going to put out.....you know, the sensitivity/efficiency?)
These are not the same thing. And a 'weak' BL is not the whole picture. Do you know how to use the parameters to arrive at the true motor force? Do you realize that when you have a lower moving mass you can have a much lower BL and still come out ahead?

And you can have a higher moving mass with the same BL to achieve a much lower Zmax at F3, therefor receiving 2-3x the power at the bottom end where the natural rolloff would have rendered it nearly inaudible with the other subwoofer with said higher BL? But "I" hijacked a thread.

For what it's worth (akheathen), I think you're pretty cool.....having some resilience is admirable.

you know, just seeing a couple of your posts, you are an xplode nuthugger, which makes your name retarded. btw, it's 1w/1m, not 2w/1m. i'm not saying bl sets it all, i'm saying low bl effects a lot more. explode cones are flimsy junk, and get worse, the more load they see. just because you devoted some time to learn how to make them sound good in a horn, doesn't mean you need to push the junk on everybody. looking at all the parameters on many different drivers will take some time. however, having the experience to pretty much know how they are all going to respond will pretty much put you in the same ball-park. i gave my first sub that came to mind that will do fair at 130 watts in that space. really, there are several entry-le4vel subs that would do just as well, but wall-mart does not sell them. there are polks that will do well, and a ton off off-brands. arguing this in this thread is pointless and rude, but so is the bull-ish advise you are spreading across the forum this evening....... just as we started getting some intelligent info on the forum

Oh, now you're talking dirty. Impedance magnitude and power delivery on the phase angles and what not? Rawr....

so, it's an 8ohm sub?.... 2.83v is the 1w/1m setting for taking sensitivity readings on an 8ohm, not 4......
Bro, he was comparing a Lowther and Fostex (familiar with those?) to make a point. It was obviously lost on you.

nope, thought it was a typo....... are those house drivers?
Indeed, very specialized full range breeds. He made a very strong point, though. I actually tried to make the same point, he just did a much better job of articulating it.

oh, well those are perfect recommendations for his car, coming from a car audio forum........ would be nice to get back on track with some good sub rec.....and i said good, not troll attempts

Arguing is what it sounds like you want to do, but with no empirical data to back up your hypotenuse. (lol for you ciaonzo). I'd rather spat back and forth with a creationist, it would get us both further.
