6x9 to 6.5 components?

my 05 nissan frontier has a bracket for 6x9's in the front door. if i wanted to put 6.5 components in there instead what would be the best stuff to use to go over the hole and then cut out to mount the components? would the hard plastic sheet be the best? if so what thickness sheet would i need to support the components?

use MDF as a baffle

also place some non-hardening modeling clay on the baffle and around the baffle after you mount it up

I did the same when i put 6.5's in my 6x8 holes.

I jus used some cheapo 1/4" hardboard for the baffle.

and i used clay on them also.

Worked out fine for me.
