6x9 in a box

2000 Nissan Frontier, ext cab...

I have built boxes to replace the little jump seats...

My original idea was to put 8" woofs in the box and a 6" component to the side...

I wound up with less volume than I had hoped for...I got just under .4 cu ft...

Very few 8" operate in less than .5 cu ft...

So, I am "rethinking" not using any woofs...instead put a 6x9 in the box...

Do you think this would help the bass end???

Any thoughts???

Steve

Hay thanx...

Right now I am looking at Focal and Boston Acoustics...took a listen to MB but I really don't care for them...

6" component will go into doors, and the 6x9 in the boxes behind the seats...

Alpine 9813 and right now no amps...but I am considering an Alpine 4 chan amp...

I only found 2 - 8" woofs that might work in the box volume I have, a Sony Xplode for like $60 and another brand I never heard of...but a requirement was that I be able to cross them over at about 1000 cps...I'm looking for full range, not "boom-boom-thumpa-thumpa"...

Think I'll go ahead with 6x9 and forget the woofs...

Thanx

Steve

or you could do it the right way, buy a good set of 6.5 components, for the front, then buy a single 10 or 8 for the rear to fill in what the 6.5 aint gonna go down to Hz wise....buy a 4 channel amp run the fronts off of the first 2 channels and the sub off of the rear....6x9's are utter crap.....avoid putting fulll range speakers in the back...

my car and my truck are here if you wanna see what i mean for the truck...

uhm i dont think hell get the mid range he wants with 8's compared to 6x9's
Not necessarily....and 6x9's sound like poo when amped.....well they sound like poo period, but it's even worse when they're seeing a good amount of power. They distort very badly when they reach full excursion....

Hay guys...slow down...

Us 60 year "old farts" don't know the lingo...

You're talking ID8's, RE8's and E8A's...I have NO clue what these are???...I presume some brand of 8" woofs...

Can you fill me in on the details???...what are they???

I'm not looking for the type of sound system like my kids have, and probably you guys do also...

I just want a nice, full range system that sounds better than average without taking the truck to the pawn shop to pay for everything...

Thanx

Steve
