Well.. heres the situation .. im thinking about getting pioneer or premier 6x9s? I know there of good quality, but what about JL and other name brands. I dont have experience with all of them of course. That's where your feedback will be helpful. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I really just want something that will deliver mids and highs. I can spend a lot, but nothing insane.

After having the MB Quarts blow and being forced to go back to my old Pioneers I've finally matured enough to realize that Components are the way to go. Save up some money and get some nice components and a nice amp and you should be set. That's what I'm doing right now to fix the Pioneer 6x9 crap I have right now.

im assuming you want these for the rear speakers...if so, you do not really need them. spend your money elsewhere; subs, amps, front stage speakers etc. Unless you already have all this and have the money to spend on the 6x9's. anyways, i have a pair of pioneer's and the sound very clear, but dont expect deep midrange bass or anything out of them:)

Good advice here though. I have 6x9's in the back of my '91 Camaro, and reading all this is quite helpful. So the general recommendation would be components up front and 2-way 6 1/2 co-axials in the back ?

yes. and get a STEREO amplifier for them.

lol. no.

dont put anything back there at all. if somone rides in the back seat, that means you dont care about them. its your car, sound is for you, they can sit up front on the way back lol.

sound in a STEREO (ie, LEFT and RIGHT channel) is supposed to have the appearance of comming from in FRONT of the listener. it should have a clear LEFT, CENTER, and RIGHT if you played a voice from the left speaker only, it should come from around the driver-side A pillar area, if you play the same voice with both speakers, it should be clearly in the center of the windshield, and if you play the same voice once more in the right speaker it should sound like its comming from the passanger A pillar area.

if you are dead set on adding rear fill. they should be attenuated (turned very low) and can be run off the headunit. and its just that REARL FILL for an ambient sound, and nothing more. you should not be able to notice that there are speakers behind you at all.

but then again, if you really dont care about sound quality and the illusion of being in an audiance at all. go ahead and do whatever you want with your equipment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
