6.5 comps for bass?

my current setup includes:

-alpine cva-1005 (screen dead just shows the backlight)

-infinity kappa amp (my uncle gave it to me dunno anything about it except its 4 channel)

-infinity kappa 6.5 component in front

-infinity kappa 52.5 coaxial in back

Now that my screen went dead, and i was going to sell my nav unit to get money for different stuff possibly, any suggestions for some components that have better bass response than the kappas? I like the way they sound, tight bass, a little sharp highs so i turned down the treble on my hu, but the bass isn't very full. I know getting a sub would be a good solution, but i'd rather not have a box in the back of my car (merc ml). Is there a set of components that would have a significantly better bass response? i wouldn't want to spend any more than in the 300's.

Keep in mind midbass response is a large function of the installation integrity. Are your doors completely sound deadened? Are the doors completely sealed? What are the speakers mounted to?

There are a ton of options in the $300 range that will have better midbass (you aren't really going to get much if any subbass out of 6.5" component set mids). Infinities are known as being pretty lacking in that department. Check out Boston Acoustics Pro Series, Diamond Audio, Morel, DLS, Focal, Adire Koda's (not sure if they're in stock yet), MB Quart and OZ Audio.

they are mounted in the factory locations, with no deadening etc. I don't really need a lot of bass per se, but I guess a more balanced sound. The infinitys seem to have even less bass than the factory POS setup. I've been reading about dls, but there isn't any place that I can hear them, but how do the m6's sound?

with no deadening etc
Focus on your install rather than the system right now. Sound deadening, sealing your door, solidifying your mounting surface, etc etc will all affect how ANY speaker performs. You're not doing yourself any favors by switching to new speakers in the same poor install (no offense intended). You never know....update your install and the Kappa's may be able to perform how you want. Remember the old cliche; your stereo's sound is determined by 90% install, 10% equipment.

You R an old cliche....

...I don't have a reason. You just are. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/chicken.gif.218ea7401db50d5e31a7e0b37e05e21e.gif

I dont know why, but I think that the: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/chicken.gif.218ea7401db50d5e31a7e0b37e05e21e.gif should crap out an egg or something.

regardless of the install, it seems like the kappas would not be sufficient by themselves tho, esp after reading how most companies have significantly better midbass. When I bought them I figured I was going to add a sub sometime later, but now i'd rather not, and just have the 6.5 component and the 5.25 coax and thats it. There are only mb quart diamond and boston dealers around here, i guess i'll check the differences tomorrow.

Might as well save your money for a little bit and atleast try it out......regardless of what speakers are in there, they'll all perform better with a thorough install upgrade.
but.. but.... BUT.... he wants to spend more money!! Cause more money means better sound!! Duh //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wacky.gif.cf4a48f9e6dfe9504ffd2c946fd2f340.gif

The install does make a big difference but so do the speakers... I had a pair of Infinity Perfect components and they had less mid-bass in same install than my previous speakers (Diamong M561's) and the speakers I replaced them with (MB Quart PCE 216's). If mid-bass is your thing you might want to try a different component set, but make sure you have a solid install, like everyone else says.
