Hey guys,

I'm just wondering if what i'm doing right now is gonna kill my car.

I have 1 x 1200 Amp battery in the front of my car, and another 600Amp Battery in the back wired to the subwoofer amp and the battery in front.

I have no capacitor whatsoever. I have no problem with dimming lights when the sub is on or engine revs/idling.

But today i noticed that my Equalizer which has tiny blue neon lights for it's buttons were dimming a bit when the sub was going off. Is this something to worry about?

5k Watt RMS Ground Zero Plutonium ZQ Sub

InPhase 4k Monoblock Amp

2 x 150W RMS Speakers

2 x 100W RMS Speakers

2 Tweeters with components

Cadence 700W Amp.

Help!

the amp isnt putting out 4k which prolly means u cranked the gains or bass boost to try and compensate. if you did this you can kill you sub as well as draw more current than needed. on the other side of that amp is putting out any power above 1500w you need to invest in a bigger alt. all batt do is delay the inevitable voltage drop, some can get away with using just batts others cant.

capacitors at that power level with that problem will only intensify the dimming as is just one more thing the alt has to charge. i only recommend a cap when you are using a 1000w or less amp and it really doesnt do much just something shops can push u into buying

btw how big is your amp wire? if it is less than 1/0gauge its time for bigger wire

Crap...

I honestly don't know what gauge wire was installed (Yeah i didn't install anything myself) but it's pretty pretty thick, as in as thick as your Biggest Foot Toe is :p I'll ask tomorrow what size was installed...

I haven't cranked up anything on my amp. I left them the way they were when installed (By the Workshop guy)

I use my car stereo twice a day for 30 mins each time. I only have the sub fully cranked up from the Extra EQ i had installed for like 10minutes at most each time i go out, but then i wanna "LISTEN" to my music so i keep ti low. I'm guessing that doesn't pose much of a problem, does it?

My car is a Honda Fit 2006/2007, do you know what alternator this would currently have? Also how big of an alternator would i need to be safe?

When we say that the car electronics may die, what exactly do we mean by that? Will the onboard computer die? I don't get it. What are the risks exactly?

Nope, if i could i would.I'm currently trying to find one who will lend me a DDM :p
Just go buy one u can get them for like $8... I will even make it easy for you - Digital Multimeters, DMM, Multimeter

Also, as already said above that amp could not do 4k even if struck by lightning, Not trying to drag u down but knowing the truth is better than living a lie. IMO sell the sub. Unless you plan on buying a new amp that can really do 4K+ and also afford to upgrade your electrical to feed such an amp. You are looking at well over a $1000 to do this.

P.S ur alt is 80amps...

I like my sub, why would i sell it? I'm just asking if my car electrics are in any danger at the moment. Are they?

What is the manufacture and model number of your headunit and amplifier ?

That amp is from overseas. It might be putting out 4K, and that sub is wicked. You NEED a new alternator and a big one. Get in contact with Mechman, DC power, Excessive amperage, or Ohio Generator. Shipping is going to be $$ but you must get one and a nice AGM under the hood and one in the hatch.

My Sub amp is an In Phase IPA2001D 4000 watts Monoblock amplifier. I also have an extra 700W Amp for the rest of my speakers.

My Headunit is not even worth mentioning since it's a CHEAP *** JVC head i got for 99 Euro.

And as i said i also have 2 Batteries. 1 x 1200Amp and one smaller one 600Amp in the back for the Sub specifically.

I say sell cause that sub has a 4" coil and will require a good amount of power to even get it moving and being you might have 2K on tap (real world 1500watts) you need alot more power and alot more electrical. Hope you have a very fat wallet.... 250-350amp alt, 3-5 g31 batts, multiple runs of 0awg, and another 3 of those in phase amps then you might be close to feeding the sub what it needs.
