57 pontiac power problems

I recently upgraded the sound system in my 57 pontiac. I had a small jvc in my glovebox and had no problems, that is gone. Here is what i did... I installed a remote repeater in the dial of the original am radio. A remote , controls my kenwood 608 head unit ( I think it is 45 w per channel)in the trunk. Along with the head unit I have a kdc c810 10 disc changer, a 750w exelon amp powering two 6" tube subs. 2 6x9 infinitys in the shelf. Two 4" bose midrange in the original speaker box on the hump and two bos acc tweeters down by the kick panels. Here is my problem... When I crank the head unit over 17 i get distortion, the dial lights dim with the beat and so do the cars headlights. If i go over 24 on the vol it shuts down. This happens with or without the amp on. The amp indicator has a low voltage light lit when the car is not running. This has the original, rebuilt, 35 amp delco generator. Remember, generators do nothing when the car is at idle creating a large load on the battery. 50's technology.Short of putting in a modern alternator that charges all the time, is there any way i can keep my gen, maybe a large capacitor? Anything else i may be overlooking?

I think a larger alt is your only good option. An extra battery, cap, etc is just going to put more strain on the alt than what you already have.
