500W amp enough to power a 4 ohm 500W RMS sub?

I'm looking at a 500W, mono class D amp and a 500w 4 ohm RMS sub. The amp says it puts out 300W at 4 ohms, and the sub says it's optimum performance is also at 300, but people have been telling me to get at least a 1000W amp. I want it to be loud but not if the bass is dirty...is 500 good enough?

learn OHM loads and wiring...........Whats the amp put out at 2 or 1 ohm?

whats the sub config? single,duals ohms

if u listed the models im sure you would get the right answer

if buying new amp, you may need a bigger amp due to rms power @14.4 v, and may need take a look at more power,old school power @11.6v 300 rms,will more than likely yeild/give you the 500+ rms at the 13.6v margin,at half the price..also, whats your budget? what sub you have/looking at? model # of sub?

Im running Audiobahn Aw1008t dvc 2ohm 1000rms 2000pk 10s..2 at the moment/4 soon..usa made discontinued 240 oz magnet old school high excursion subs..anyone can flame my a ss for my subs..i can care less..they bang just fine for me????@ 2.ocu ft per chamber tuned to 30hz with an autotek bts 7150 on a set.. what ya got..???? no need to bash..ive ran lanzar max pro 10s on an autotek mean machine 99 in a 93 integra hatch that made my throat hurt everytime the bass hit..the dust cover blew up to the dash banging one day driving on the highway..still banging..lol..those cheap subs took a beating, and still work today:respekt:

Those look nice...yet,you can get much better for your money though..whats the max you want/can spend budget wise? you can get a custom box built from here, with a good /better/louder/more effecient sub,and powerful amp for that price...recommendations from people on here,and get your moneys worth? or if you like that??it will work together,but wont be as effecient?? whats your budget/max??

$550? i ll post couple things/see what you can get/recommend for that/being conservative w your budget..others can /will recommend also,to get a good set up that will last you, and perform very well?then you decide for what youd like to have? not bashing,just recommending:santa:

900 but that includes wiring and installation plus i wanna look into deadening and adding auxillary power so it doesn't kill the car battery. I really like the enclosure since it's built specifically for that sub and it doesn't take up space like others would.

have you looked at the classifieds on here yet? if not, take a browse see if you see something also..ill try post couple things i think youd be happier with/look around..that a fantastic budget,to get it in

I don't have that entire budget yet lol about 600 saved up right now but i figure once everything is said and done that's the max i wanna spend on a first system
