500 vs 750watts.

the more power the better. if you get what ur planning on getting and your lights dim then do the big 3, lights still dim, get a good battery, lights still dim, get a HO alt. simple as that.

1999 Silverado 1500 ext cab.
Those already have a good size altenator I believe.

They also say that the new Mag gets loud while sounding good just off 400rms. So I would imagine you would be fine with two 500rms amps. Personally me, I would just get one amp that will do that power.

I say do the big 3 and one good size battery in the back and see how that pans out first.

I have one 750.1 amp on mine and my lights don't dim at all. When I had 1000rms, it did, but I don't have that beefy of a factory altenator.

It has a 90 amp factory alt. So ill be fine. Yea i wudnt buy 2 seperate 500 watt amps. Ill prly just get one 1000 watt amp. I jus dono which one to get.

Sundown SAE1000D draws 96 amps of current max (I think, it was osmethign around 96 anyway), and puts out a lil bit more than 1000 watts cleanly... I have mine running off of a Deka Intimidator 9A31 in the trunk and I don't drop lower than 13.6 with my 95 amp alt. However, I got that big of a battery because I'm upgrading my highs with a Sundown SAX 100.4 so you'll easily be fine with just a second battery and big 3.

Battery does not create extra power, but if it's charged it can take some of the strain off of your charging system. With AC on full, head lights, and fog lights on, and interior lights on I don't get noticeable dimming, but sometimes my voltage can get down to 13.2 with the car on, with it off I can drop down to 12.2. But that's playing bass heavy music. And thats still safe voltage.

Look into a Sundown SAE 1000D, if u can find one used they are a GREAT deal, efficient, and sound great, and I'm sure u could get a decent price from jacob new if u can't find a used one.

You guys aren't thinking of it over time.

You are only thinking of a battery as a stationary load, like a resistor.

If you break it down it makes more sense.

Lets say at a peak power pull your system pulls 160 Amps.

Your alt is 100 amps max (which probably means you are going to loose 10% of that in cable and other places). So it is really 90 amps.

With no battery when your system needs the current the voltage will drop. There is only 90 amps to go around.

With one battery the voltage will drop less. Because, the 90 amp charge is spread out over time. The load might be 90 amps for 1 seconds to replenish the charge lost over the .1 second spike. Over that .1 second spike the voltage could have hit as low as 6 volts with out the battery.

With two batteries you are spreading the charge out over time more. Since the batteries are in parallel you aren't really doubling the load. If the current draw is 160 Amps over .1 second instead of pulling 90 + 70 you are pulling 90 + 35 + 35. If your charge rate is the same as the discharge rate (which it isn't but it's close in a decent battery) after the load from the amplifier goes away you are pulling 70 amps for .1 seconds in either case. But, it should be said that since there is only a 35 amp load for .1 seconds on each battery the voltage decrease much less than it would with just one battery.

Hence the lack of dimming.

I hope that made sense and clears things up.

Ready under adding a second battery than get back to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Fail.

A second battery is just another load on the alternator
Just the same way 200sqft is greater area than a football field. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I thought the idea of a forum is for people who know the answers to reply... Not pull bullshit out their ***** and say its true.

This thread made me giggle.

Run 1000 watts, you should be happy if you dont want to even think about upgrading. If you want to beat down the block, the new mags probably arent for you.

And to sweet dick with the bud leaf in his avatar. Please dont believe everything you read or think it applies in all situations. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
