Props for using a ribbon tweet in a comp set...I don't think I've seen that done before.
Hertz I believe uses some aswell. And many people have used various ribbon tweeters in DIY active set ups.

Anyways.....Sony has a ton of engineering power, and used to be top-shelf equipment. Yes, their target market shifted to lower-end in recent years....but they are certainly capable of producing incredible products.

I wouldn't knock it unless you've heard them.

try getting some older sony es highend speakers..those that have them will not sell and if they do, they sell for alot more than this set new and the ES speakers are like 10 years old...es amps are about the same way. last set of es amps i seen go were like 500 for the small one and 1100 for the larger.. i have an old es catalog around here somewhere maybe i should scan some of the stuff they had out back then ...funny part about it in alot of ways its better than what alot of people call high end now ...pioneer odr is about the same way ..ahead of their time.

I guess most of you never even noticed ...... they are NOT part of the xplode lineup. I would never pay $500 or whatever for a Sony speaker, but I am sure these are head and shoulders above the Sony stuff you are used to seeing at like walmart or whatever.

then why do they say XPLOD right on the mid?

gotta hand it to sony. they must have paid lots of money for Syndicate Automotive in San Diego to build a car for them.

car looks cool. if it used different equipment it would be much more satisfying. i just cant stand the idiots rocking flea market equipment saying - i got xplod in my car too! yea!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I actually own a Sony AMp from 1993. 2 channel, rated for 45 RMS X 2 @ 4 ohm, 70 RMS X 2 @ 2 ohm, 150 RMS Bridged @ 4 ohm. This thing was liek 6 by 6 inches and 3 inches deep. has 8 guage connectors and powered a 10" infinity Kappa Perfect in Jeep Willies.
This thing was very plain looking, , but belive it or not was very fantastic for a 93. Had lots of powern and a 30 amp fuse... for 150 rms? wowz....
That was made before the time they started Xplodeing on people //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I'd like to hear a set of those. Can't imagine they are worth $500, but they MIGHT be good. Interesting tweeters for sure.

I wonder if they are at least better than the RSDs everyone is creaming over...
