Need to find an amp that will do something like that at 8 ohms, for my buddy who's gonna be runnin an old 8 ohm MJ sealed, anyone know of any (hopefully cheap) amps that will do at LEAST 500 rms at 8 ohms? thanks

I believe HT amps are more commonly made to run at 8 ohms? If I could rig a HT amp up in his car that'd be just fine as well as long as its not too expensive

You're prob gonna need to find an amp that can do about 800-1000w @4ohm, a mono block amp to get that power at 8ohms.

thats what I figured, but I'm hoping it'll be cheaper than just straight up getting an amp that can do like 2500@ 1ohm because it won't be used at all for that

He just wants a single 18, and I have an old 8 ohm mj sittin around and a box for it, so its cheapest/easiest that way, he's not lookin to spend a huge amount of money on his system or get super loud, and I'd rather put this sub to use

Doubt you need nearly that much power. Ideal would be something like a PPI A1200 or Orion XTR-2250, neither of which are remotely cheap. Any 2 channel amp that does 250x2 @ 4ohms will do 500x1 @ 8 and you can get something like that much cheaper than a mono amp that can do that kind of power into that load.

Easiest way is to get a 2ch amp and bridge it @ 8 ohms. No need to get a large mono.
