5.25'' vs 6.5'' Help Picking Component Set and AMP

Hey guys. I'm trying to put together a system for my 95 M3. Listen to mostly hip hop and trance/house, some classic rock too. I'm looking for opinions on a decent 2-way component set and amp for a reasonable price. I would like to keep it under/around $300 for the speakers and amp.

Firstly, how big of a difference is there between 5.25'' and 6.5'' components. The factory speaker size in my car is 5.25'' midbass, and if I want to upgrade to 6.5'' it will take some cutting of sheet metal and modifying. It is not too big of a deal, just want to make sure it is a worth while upgrade before taking on the project. If it isn't that big of a difference, I would rather just keep the 5.25 size.

I would like to keep it under/around $300 for a component set and amp. I already have a kicker sub and mono amp that will be going in and a pioneer p6800mp I have laying around that I'm going to use until I save up for a better HU.

I know I'm a Noob, but I have a 6 1/2 " set in my son's car. I am running them off a Alpine PDX-5 amp. They are bi-amped with 75 watts per driver. They sound great. YMMV
