hey i was reading this site and under TIP#4 it said he recommended using 5-1/4" components in the kicks instead of 6-1/2" in his Acura Integra. Which is the same car as me. I currently have six and half inch speakers and am wondering if using the 5 and quarter inch speakers actually have any advantage over the the 6 inchers??

if you build the kicks right for the 5.25's they should get plenty deep. hell i knew a guy that competeed pro way back in 97 with 4" boston pros boston sub and the clarion pro audio set up (big arsed processor about the size of a small desk top copmuter) he actually built a ver roomy yet stylish enclosure in the kicks. you would never guess the mids were only 4". thing is you gotta understand what the trade off here actually is. the room saved was reapplied to the driver to play deeper. if you are short of space more than half the time going with what fits and applied correctly will work better than whats squeezed in

I too have a question.

I have 5.25" Hex comps and am going to be adding some XXX 6.5" midbass (thanks to the group buy!!!!)

Should I put the 5.25 in some kicks or the XXX?????

do people really get a set of components and ADD a mid-bass woofer?? i always thought the typical and necesarry set-up consisted of components and sub.. or mid-woofer, tweeter, and sub? i have a set of infinity perfect 6.1 components. all i need to complete my system now is subs.. right??

thats fine. what ur talking about is a 3 way setup. midbass, midrange, and tweeter. about the same frequency range covered, but its split between 3 speakers rather than 2. it definitely has its advantages but u gotta know ur stuff to tune it correctly.

ahhh ic now.. i think i'll get an 8-inch in the future.. but can i hide it?? say in the trunk? or maybe even on the rear deck panel of my integra?? what kind of enclosure does it call for? would it be okay to just have ONE 8-inch woofer in addition to my PAIR of component speakers??

no and no...midbass would have to be up front w/ the comps or it will ruin your front stage. enclosure...what ever you wanna do, sealed, ported,ib in door..... but you should have a pair.
