I'm planning an install on a 4runner with a friend of mine. she wants to keep it reasonably priced yet good SQ. she also prefers a double DIN dvd HU.

HU: pioneer maybe?

Front: PG RSd comps 6.5

Rear: PG RSd 6.5's

amp: JL 300/4

as far as the sub, she has a 10" audibahn in a sealed box powered by an older Boss 2/3/4 channel 600 watt.

suggestions....

First off drop the rear fill and 300/4. Get another decently priced 4ch. (memphis, kicker, etc.), then take the money from that and upgrade the sub and sub amp and the front comps.

Decent 2-4ch. amps.

Both very good amps and they're both cheaper than the JL.

Comps, i really dont know a whole lot in this area, I would recommend boston, MB quart, focal etc.

Sub.

My stock JBL sounds better than most aftermarket ive heard,

it actually beat JimJ at an SQ contest //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif only thing is the substage is lacking for a basshead like me.

when you get the indash installed lets see some pics, im gonna be doing an install in mine, but im not gonna use a kit b/c i hate the look of kits, im gonna mold my own inside of a broken stock unit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yeha i have an 04 4runner with the JBL synthesis, the stock speakers sound sooo kickass, but i threw a sub in the back cause it was necessary for me, fi q 12" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i rock the 05, too bad in 06 they added mp3 and aux input //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i shall fix that tho //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The stock speaker location in the front sucks, I built kick pods and they sounded great. Also you want to keep the reAR fill, I had none and ended up doing some cheap speakers in the back, it filled the suv more.
