4dr vs 2dr blazer

For 2nd gens, 4 doors are generally louder.
For 1st gens, thats hard to say.
Unless we know the washer fluid level.

I think the obvious answer has already been stated. A 4-door has the ability to be walled off, effectively giving the same cabin space, but more cargo room for equipment. Where as for non-walled applications the 2-door tends to have less air space to compress, thus making it generally easier to accomplish. To try and give any more specific an answer than that would hit the brick wall that is 'install dependancy' also mentioned earlier in this thread. I dont see any point in continuing this conversation any further, as it will only lead to wild speculation veiled as fact.

Agreeing with what someone mentioned earlier with 2 dr being louder than a four dr and what audioholic mentioned above, the 2 dr has a bigger chance of being louder simply because of less cabin space. I think if I remember correctly, I hit about 140 with the 4 10's in an uglyass box I had back area...not a bad number but coulda done better I bet. And yes install dependant plays a big factor also....as well as how many watts your running.

Most of the 4 door SUV's have a larger cargo area and are louder because of it. In my experience the 2 door Explorers are at least 2 dB down from a 4 door Explorer.

Having more doors doesn't necessarily mean there will be more "leak." Yeah, it seems like common sense, but SPL doesn't always work that way. My door flexes pretty good when I burp. Everybody told me that I was leaking air out of the door jams and was probably losing score. I decided to test out this theory and tape the door shut to where I wasn't even able to pull it open. I did not even gain 0.1 dB from doing so.

My point is that everything is car dependent. Some cars like to leak at certain places where others do not. There is never a simple answer for SPL, if there was then everybody would be good at it.

There's no "real" answer to this unless you have one of each and put the exact setup in both. I've owned both these trucks (1st & 2nd gens), but I had efferent setups in both.

more cabin space can sometimes be BETTER. I hate it when i see people saying that because there is "less air to pressurize" that it should be louder. not always the case.
4dr
Only if outside factors alter it. Basic physics tells us less airspace to pressure will mean more spl given a certain amount of air displacement. Its the entire theory around building a 'wall'.

4 door blazers (2nd gen) have the potential to get louder.

/thread.

I don't want to hear any more talk about "less air to pressurize" or "smaller cabin" or any other b.s.

I used to have a 2 door AND a 4 door blazer on my team. I've spent lots of time on both. 4 door blazers have more potential. End of story. If you disagree with that, then you don't know a damn thing about competing and should STFU.

An orion 2500d on a type-r 15" was doing 149's on the dash in a 4 door blazer. The 2 door couldn't get close to that with similar equipment, or at one point MORE equipment.

The 4 door having more space after being walled off is completely irrelevant.

4 doors are louder in street style applications as well.

Don't believe me? Look at all the loud street explorers/blazers in all the competition organizations. All of them are 4 doors. Think this is purely coincidence?
