$45,000 for every man, woman, and child in this country

country would be fine right now if we werent so lazy and stopped making/producing our own ****...we totally stopped having any type of manufacturing/industrial jobs in this country i can remember as a kid here in pittsburgh there were steel mills everywhere... and i mean everywhere within the lsat 10-12 years every single one disappeared(they started disapearing in the late 80s more so tho).. if we didnt depend on every other country for all this **** we'd probably still be an economic superpower like after ww2 but thats not the case everyone sits on their *** in an office doing nothing all day instead bitchin about the economy. we were fucked as soon as we stopped doing what we were good at lol. we have nothing to offer anybody now.
You think the steel mills disappeared because the people were too lazy to man them? Political/economic reasons sent our industrial base over seas, not couch potatoes.

not what im saying... im saying u.s doesnt stand a chance anymore because we dont have industrial/manufacturing jobs here anymore.

but...steel mills left because they had guys sleeping through entire 10 hr shifts.... and because people like my current neighbor they had so many benefits that it wasnt really affordable anymore to pay americans to do the work... he had 7 years worth of vacation saved before he retired...pretty sweet yea but he only worked 30 years at the mill and have 7 years worth of vacation?. steel mills left because its cheaper to pay some asian guy 1/30 of what people around here were getting paid to do same work...

u.s. i think shot itself in the foot by sending all those jobs overseas..the whole south side of pittsburgh was nothing but a large steel mill..im talking like 30 city blocks for the one mill..it was crazy..biggest building ive ever seen in my life..towns like the one i live in now was a large steel mill town with jessop steel and washington steel.. steel mills leavin crippled pittsburgh for longest time..it was awesome pay back then....guys were making $50k/year or more in the 70s/80s at industrial jobs... theres tons of towns up/down river from the city like alliquippa and monesson that are pretty much abandoned for the most part except for projects because of steel mills leaving.

Differences in the value of currency play a bigger role than local problems like overly large pay rates, perks, and fat pensions (ie: unionization). A factory worker can afford to work for $.50 a week (or whatever it is) because in China, $.50 (U.S. currency) is a living wage. Currency value differences. Whether that assembly line worker makes $10 an hour, or $22, it still wont be competitive. But I certainly agree with you that all your examples are problems that also need to be dealt with.

I suspect **** would get so bad that we would have to invite Chinese troops to restore order.
Hahaha the Chinese cant even solve their flippin trash problem. But they are said to have a hell of an army. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

The funniest (saddest) part of this truth is that it was a mere $12k/person until 7mo after Obama got into office. Anyone wants to argue that he isn't the worst president the US has ever seen need to look no further for their rebuttle.

If China calls our debt we will see hyper-inflation and go wayside of UK in the 1920's or worse, Hungary in the 1940's

"I could end the deficit in 5 minutes. Just pass a law that makes congress ineligible for reelection if the deficit is greater than 3% of the GDP"
-Warren Buffett
Honestly, why would these people care to get re-elected? One term in office and they make that pay, with inflation adjustment, free healthcare, and in most cases penal immunity for the rest of their natural lives.

A major problem we have is overpopulation. If we weren't so overcrowded we wouldn't have to worry about a shortage of housing, food/water or jobs. I sense another plague or world war coming that will stabilize population growth. Just like it has in the past.

They need to put regulations on how many kids people are allowed to have.. YES i just said that!! But then people would say the government is over ruling and blah blah blah. People on welfare having multiple children.. like really!?

Yeah I just read thru this whole thread and it is very scary. I'm 18 and heading off to college in a month. 80k in debt here I come!!! Maybe the world will actually end in 2012...

I have kept this in mind for a while.
Kind of sad but I am actually banking on that fact because school just hasn’t paid off the debt I have accumulated acquiring this education.
