$45,000 for every man, woman, and child in this country

Only 45K each? Just be greatful we're not getting all the government we're paying for or we'd really be fucked.

Sadly we're at a point where the regulatory environment and tax structure are so oppressive that most businesses moved away and the barrier for entry is high enough to keep the status quo protected. You pay people NOT to work, and punitively tax those who do and then everyone wonders why we have unemployment.

Between people who are on welfare/soc-sec/stamps/medicare/etc. etc. handouts and people who collect a check from the state in some other form like beaurocrats, enforcement class (cops, teachers, military, etc.) and just armies of other "government" employees I think we're at a point where so many people are dependent on the state for survival that the masses can't afford to have things really change much. And of course at some point you're totally upside-down where the 20% of the people who actually work for a living producing value (goods and services that people pay for willingly and don't need to be coerced through taxation to pay for) are supporting the other 80% that are ******* off the public teet in one form or another..... This seems a pretty unsustainable economic model.

I have land and food, but really hope it doesn't come to that. In a SHTF scenario considering we can't pacify 10 million people in camel-land after 10 years I think our major cities in this country would be hell on earth. I suspect **** would get so bad that we would have to invite Chinese troops to restore order.

I suspect we will soon reap the reward of our collective ignorance and apathy.

country would be fine right now if we werent so lazy and stopped making/producing our own ****...we totally stopped having any type of manufacturing/industrial jobs in this country i can remember as a kid here in pittsburgh there were steel mills everywhere... and i mean everywhere within the lsat 10-12 years every single one disappeared(they started disapearing in the late 80s more so tho).. if we didnt depend on every other country for all this **** we'd probably still be an economic superpower like after ww2 but thats not the case everyone sits on their *** in an office doing nothing all day instead bitchin about the economy. we were fucked as soon as we stopped doing what we were good at lol. we have nothing to offer anybody now.

Maybe once China's bubble bursts, things will equal out. Just saw a video showing they are building numerous cities that are for populations over 1million each, that are totally empty. Their governments idea to maintain growth, is to just keep building. This is a huge reason why raw material costs have skyrocketed and show no signs of slowing down, (in other words, why your amps etc. cost more to make now then they did yesterday). One issue I see with this in relation to the USA, is that the Chinese culture is too proud to ever admit to or concede a failure or mistake. So with this continue to drive to build homes that the population cannot afford, when it comes crashing down, it will hurt us. Heck, there was a documentary on the Olympic village and stadiums from the last Olympics, are in shambles to not being kept up with.

your absolutely right the amount of people who work a non-government type job is so small we can afford to get ahead because of paying for everyone that does work for the gov't in some sort of way or collect a gov't check for nothing..its crazy. we have no chance with the way things are.

I dont have a pot to p!ss or a window to throw it out so im really f'd..

Although my home is all but 5 miles from the canadian border crossing.. About a 3/4 mile if i went by boat.

I think things will have to get much much worse before anything radical happens.

I dont smoke weed, but i think thats another topic.. Do WE really need to be spending a BILLION plus dollars EACH YEAR to fight the war on "drugs".

Legalize the shiz, and tax the p!ss out of it. The government would SAVE a grip on not fighting the war on "drugs" I dont look at the topic as what the government could make off legalizing it, i look at it as what they could save or not spend by fighting it. Hence the fact they pay people each and every single day to ''fight" this "war". Just this one thing alone which is HUGE. Could ease the tension of this crumbling nation.

Its by no means a cure all but if carefully planned and thought out it could dramatically change this country as whole. Look at alcohol.. is that really such a great thing? Alot of people think it is, but think marijuana is a disgrace.

I could live with and pay off my 45k worth of the natl debt....problem is us hard working pay our own way citizens end up having to pay 100k for all the other citizens that leech off our system and don't provide anything for society.

My brother and I have similar preparations, but I hate the fact that we even have to consider this. However, I have a 10 year old little girl and all though this world may not go to crap while I'm still here, it has a 90% chance of happening in hers and I want to ensure that she has every thing she needs to survive what may/will happen.

And Audio is right. We are living breathing history right now. Many of you younger kids will see our country's fall in your life times.
I am not having children for this very reason...the earth has enough population. I know for a fact we are headed for a crisis, pretty much all things weather and political point to it. I like kids, and would like having kids but the problem is I would want for my kids the same as every parent wants: to provide enough support so they can live out their lives well and not have to suffer or strain to survive. Unfortunately some of the parents in this new generation are not going to be able to provide that support due to the economic/world situation. I don't want to see that happen to my kids.

I'm thinking about not having children when that day to question it comes around. 1, I don't want them to have to go through things that I went through (mentally), and 2 is because the world is going down hill. At the same time, I feel like my offspring could help the world if they are like me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It's funny you guys are talking about bomb shelters, I literally was just reading (in Playboy) about this guy who bought an old missile silo in New York and turned it into a vacation home/bomb shelter. He built a regular house on top of the control room, then turned the control room into a fully finished living basement with everything you need to survive. The actual silo part is attached but unfinished. Kind of neat. The Most Unique Real Estate In The World

True I could inspire my kid to help the world, it is the duty of the new generations to change the worl for the better...I just think people have gotten too used to getting married and having kids by age 20 and having 1-4 kids per typical household. People are forgetting that in history there has always been a pandemic to come about to control the population. With the current population growths we are headed toward the next pandemic, be it some sort of disease or natural disaster or war, something is coming that will wipe out a good chunk of people. People of the world can't keep multiplying forever at some point we are doing more harm than good making the planet unsurvivable. Problem is the world tends to deal with problems as they arrise, I have a feeling we are going to start running out of a lot of natural resources we are used to taking for granted....like fresh drinking water. Thats going to become a bigger problem than oil a lot sooner too. We need to make as many water treatment facilities as possible.
