OK so I just got my HU about 3 weeks ago which is a Pioneer AVH-X2500BT double din touch screen and now It's time to get my front stage. My budget is $400 and I want to get the best 6'5" comp set and 2 channel amp to power them possible for the money.

To help you guys make suggestions I can tell you what I'm looking for. I want my tweet to be a silk or softdome tweet cause I like my highs warm and not harsh. I want really good midbass response out of the 6.5. I listen to rock ( all kinds form classic to metal ) hip-hop, dubstep, pretty much all types of music except country. I would like to give my comps about 75-100 watts rms per side. All help and recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Oh and btw, My buddy had a bunch of dynamat extreme he never used and is going to give it to me so I will be using it to dampen the doors so I get the best midbass and clean response possible.

What I recommend for good midbass(providing the doors are at least deadened and sealed to the inner panel) is CDT components, or possibly a set by JBL. Either way you will get silk dome tweeters like you requested. If you would please pm me I'll be able to give you some details.

Yeah I have been doing some research and think I have narrowed it down to this amp cause it's extremely cheap and I always liked arc audio amps...

The amp will be the Arc Audio FD2100 ( 50X2 rms at 4 ohms ) It's only $99

Each of you guys has mentioned a comp set I have been doing research on and I think I have narrowed it down to one of these 3 sets with the Arc amp to power them at 50x2 rms.

1= CDT Audio, COM 626CR with rear fill speakers $199

2= Image Dynamics CTX65CS $169.99

3= Morel Maximo 6.5" $169.99

Looks like all 3 sets are similar. I think any would do quite well with 50 watts rms a side.

I like the CDT's cause you get the free rear fill speakers and the croosovers seem to be the best of the 3.

I like the ID set cause the midrange / midbass 6.5 just looks nasty! Looks like this set can handle the most power.

I don't know bout the Morel set except there home audio stuff is fantastic.

Thoughts on these 3 sets with 50x2 rms per side?

I know this is about $100 under the budget I listed but that just puts $100 towards my sub(s)+amp later on!!!

Might be a little underpowered, I'm buying the ID CTX65CS and the CTX-69 and running them off an NVX 800w 4 channel amp giving each speaker roughly 125w each and I was considering making the jump to 150w for each since I can buy a 900w amp for cheaper!

Just remember, the ID's have a 2 3/4" mounting depth so they are pretty deep but supposedly with enough power they can pound. I'll be buying all of my stuff early September so if you pick yours up before I do, please let me know what you go with and how it sounds!

I am going to use dynamat extreme in the doors and plenty of it. Can you explain what you mean by sealed to the inner panel? Thanks for your help so far.

you might need more power than that 50w per channel amp

You know what, maybe I should just go ahead and spend an extra $100 and get it right. I found the Crossfire C3 102 Mini for 199 and it does 100x2 rms.

1st off, is this Crossfire amp quality? They used to be pretty good back when I was into car audio 6-7 yrs ago. 2nd, can all 3 of these sets handle 100x2 rms? I know the ID's can but the Morels and CDT's call for less than that and I really don't wanna blow my speakers!

The way some people do this is a very cheap solution, which is to get thick weather strip foam and stick that all around the edge of the midrange speaker. This is recreating the seal you find on some factory speaker brackets. It forces the sound to go through the grille instead of having some sound get wasted and add to vibrations in the door panel.

The CDT set I recommend is HD-61A. I can bundle this with a 2-channel amp that makes 115W RMS with money left over. The speakers will handle that power and more, depending on the high pass filter. I have the factory warranty to offer on everything I sell, and the speakers and amp are in stock at the store I work at.

Thanks for the info. I will for sure look into dong that on whichever set I go with. What amp would be paired with the HD set? Also I would like to set my crossover at about 100hzup maybe even as low as 80. Could the CDT Hd's handle that with 115x2? Again, I won't be making my purchase in the Friday after next when I get my check. I am already getting some great offers and will consider all and use this 2 weeks to get max research in. Thanks again and look forward to talking to and possibly doing business with you in the near future!
