150$ to 200$ budget for good 6" / 7" speakers and a head unit.

I think I made a bad purchase within a 150$ budget. Bought a SONY CDX-GT470UM and SONY XS-F1727 speakers. But the sound from the speakers has a lot of treble and no bass, it hurts my head. What should I change to?

I've bought these because I'm on a budget, and I saw the discount and bought them because I've had SONY headphones for a few years and they are awesome, but if you could help me change the sound of my car to something better I would appreciate it.

I can up my budget to 200$, as I'm going to trade the speakers/radio if needed.

did you put an amp on those speakers?

those looks like a 40w rms speaker, what i would suggest is put a 50w per channel amp, if you have 2 of them get a 2 channel 50w rms amp if it still sound crap change the speaker but the amp should be sufficient to whatever speaker you will change them with so its not a waste of money.

who knows after you amp them they might sound good to your ear and be done with it

It sounds good, the mids are awesome, the lows are ****, it looks like a fucked up exhaust pipe.

Maybe a subwoofer would solve all my problems instead of an amplifier.

if your looking for bass, then yes you will need subwoofer

I have a friend who has an awesome and clear bass and doesn't have a subwoofer, only 4 speakers, also I'm thinking in switching the speakers to these, JBL GTO938.

What do you think?

Does the car have cutouts for 6x9s or were you planning on making some mdf baffles and shoehorning then into your front doors? This is actually what i did recently my car initially had 6in Bose speakers up front, i purchased some rockford p1694s from a local shop (impulse buys ftl) and mounted then in my front doors with 2 mdf rings for 1.5 inches of offset to clear the windows. The doors were already sealed with peel n seel and i have non hardening clay between the baffles and door, amped on 90wrms it has a nice full sound lots of midbass. I would imagine a decent component set with a nice amp and proper installation will net you similar results and of course better imaging.
