Ok guys heres my situation. I have a hatchback (vw gti) and i want to run 4 subs in a seald enclosure. I want to either run 8's or 10's. So what i would like to know is, whos running re8's seald and how much airspace did you guys gave them??Hows the sq on them? I had the chance of hearing the w3 before cause i use to own a 12w3 and I liked it . I can get either of this subs for around the same price, 230 for the re8 new with warranty and 240 for the w3v2 used but mint,is the price ok for this too? thanx for the help

the W3V2's favor a sealed box more than the RE8's, if I remember correctly....I know the RE8's prefer ported.
yeah thats what i was thinking after reading a few comments about the re8's. what do you think of the price??

good price for both, really. I have 4 RE8's in a ported box and they could wang pretty hard.
how big is your enclosure? whats it tune too?and hows the sq on them ported?right now i have a 4 cu ft box in the back of the gti but would like to get a smaller box then 4 cubes.

Sorry, I meant to say that I HAD used them...it was 3ft^3 overall tuned to 38hz. Sounded good too, had no issues at all.

10W3v2's > RE8's in every aspect except when it comes to fitting in a small box. If you're going sealed, definitely go with the 10's...

Porting the 8's will likely get you a little more peak output centered around 45-50 Hz, but the 10's sealed will give you higher average SPL across a broader bandwidth -- assuming you don't have more power than the 8's will handle mechanically.

alright guys thanx for the input, looks like the jls are coming home soon haha. So should the w3 do good on 1 cu ft each or do i need to go smaller like .65 like jl recommends or more like .75??

yea... probably around .75 imo... I always go a little bigger that JLs specs and have good results.
yeah i thought 1 cuft would be over killing it. so a 3 cuft would be ideal. any ideas as how to place the sub diff then this?? i only have around 40" across:(

Are you retarded? Tuning the box to 30-32 would make the output peak in this frequency range.. that's the point of porting.. so you can tune the box to peak the output in your personal preference frequency.

And sealing the eights would do the same thing as sealing the tens.
