4" speakers

I second the recommendation for the Aura 4000RPM - if you want a coaxial.

If it were me, I'd run a pair of these

Dayton Audio RS100-4 4" Reference Full-Range Driver 4 Ohm 295-378

I am using those 4" now and they sound good, play down to 100Hz with ease, and are well built. The response rolls off if you are off-axis - so their aiming is important. But even fully off-axis (in the kicks) they extend above 3kHz, so adding a tweeter solves that issue. I will move them on-axis next.

these tweeters could work with the Dayton 4's

Pioneer TS-T15 3/4" Soft Dome Tweeter Pair 267-288

and you get mounting hardware. I've used tweeters like this in the past, they are worth the money.

If u did go this route these are some other drivers to look into Tang Band W4-1320SJ 4" Bamboo Cone Driver 264-847

Those are too deep - he needs 2" and they are 2-5/8". The Daytons are 2-1/16" - so with the baffles you are there.

The Aura's will be better than Alpine SPS and entry Boston.

The Dayton/Pioneer option will be better than the Aura's and give you aiming options for the tweeters along with better midbass response.

But the Dayton's will be difficult to properly mount - they use a 6-hole pattern so you're gonna need something rigid to screw them to, then secure the baffle to the car. with the Aura's you are more likely to be able to use factory mounting holes. But good sound usually means custom. your call.

Good choice! My first build was a 94 corolla and I ran entry clarion coaxial for all the speakers. If I could do it again I'd get the ones you just bought.
