The Memphis Madd Maxx 15" I had, I believe had a 4" coil. Also, the Lord Baccus version of the MOAB, 1 of 1 sub, custom built for my friend Brian(Lord Baccus) had a 4" coil and I believe it was 5 slugs at I believe 9" wide....but I maybe wrong.. It is F'en huge though..

Doesn't the Heavyweight and Super Heavy Weight use 4" coils?

I think I saw that the RE MX has a 4" coil so does the RD SHW.It seems very few have 4" most have 3". wow the MTX 9500 have 4" coils and thr jackhammer has a 6.5" coil .holy shit lol

Well, most subs use the 3" coil because daily...most people don't shoot 4000+ watts to a speaker..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif like I do...

But those speakers that have been mentioned...the MX an exception...are SPL geared woofers and people will put more power to them..making the companies use a 4" coil to handle a little more power.

Hell, the 18" Nightshade I had, I believe was a 3" coil, and I put a Sundown 3000D @ 0.5ohm daily it took it like a champ. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

IMHO, 3" coil is fine for 95% of consumers..
