4 Guage Wire on 1000/1 JL?

Its just one 1000/1 going to a 12W7. When I bought it, it came as 20 feet, I stripped a few feet off and I can take another foot or two off its just that I am scared to cut too much wire off incase I need it in the future. So if I buy a 1000/1 everything should be plug and play right?

Also make sure that it is a decent brand of wire. I have purchsed a couple of off brands and held them up to another brand and there was a huge difference, one was 4gauge with mostly plastic.
