4 gauge to 10 gauge?

I wanna try an amp that's been sitting for years. 300x rockford amp.
It takes 10 gauge, no bigger. Bridged gives 150 rms x 2. Is 10 enough? I'm gonna have to trim the 4 to fit
Check out Crutchfield's guide: How to determine the best wire gauge

They recommend 8 gauge (I'm making a gross assumption you're running from a battery in the front to a trunk in the back), but then again it's a conservative estimate and if you're not running that length then you can use a smaller wire.

Trim as little of the ends of the 4 as you can to get a secure fit. If all but then ends of the wire are 4 awg thick it'll act more like a 4 gauge than a 10 in terms of amperage capacity
