4 channel amp wiring questions.

Hey guys. I'm currently running a pioneer GM-D8601 powering two Alpine type-s 12" dual 4ohm subs (wired at 2 ohms, 1 ohm total resistance). I'm starting to shop for a 4-channel amp and would like to get the matching amp (GM-D8604). Any opinions on this amp and other suggestions are welcome, though that isnt the question I came to ask.

First, my head unit only has one rca out. The amp i want to buy has a preamp rca out and a 2channel setting for this situation. I plan on running my rca to the 4-channel then from the 4-channel to the mono block until I can afford a new HU with 3 rca outs. Doing this means I'll have to run it in the 2 channel setting. Will this cause the channel ratings to change? Or does it retain the same 150x4@2ohm rating? The reason I ask is because I don't want to have to buy new speakers when I get a new head unit and switch to the 4channel setting.

If switching the setting changes the ratings, will it be ok to just run a splitter on each line to turn the 2 rcas into 4? I could then run it on the 4 channel setting.

Thanks in advance for any responses!

First of all,2-4 ohm subs gives you 2 ohms, what's the 1 ohm resistance?

second, you could add a inexpensive eq.like the clarion and split your rcas that way and have more pre amp voltage.

The subs are DVC with 4ohms per VC wired at 2 ohms per sub.

How much is an 'inexpensive' eq? I think I'd rather put that money towards a new deck

Thanks!
