4 Channel Amp, 5 Speakers. Best option for rears?

Hey all,

I'm a stereo installation newb with a setup question. Things should be mostly straightforward, but I do have one question about the rear speakers. I was contemplating just leaving the rears unpowered but I'd like to have some rear fill, especially for back seat passengers.

What I was thinking is to leave the rears powered by the HU and power the fronts with the amp. However, the HU only has one set of switchable pre-outs that I'm going to leave on "rear" to send a full-range signal to an EQ. Will this cause the HU to stop sending a signal to the rear speakers? If so, would it be okay to simply wire the rears to the front output on the HU? Is there a better way I could handle this?

In case it is salient, here's what I'm working with (in a 95' Civic):

Sony CDX-GT130 (1 set pre-outs, switchable rear/sub)

Alpine MRP-F240 4-channel amp (will bridge 2 channels to power sub)

1 soon-to-be-purchased inexpensive EQ (probably Lanzar Vibe 440PSU)

Front: Pioneer TS-A1374R 5-1/4" 3-way

Rear: Stock

Sub: 1 Rockford Fosgate Prime R1S410 (0.7ft^3 enclosure)

Just run the rear on the deck?
That is what I wanted to do but I was curious if, in general, setting the pre-outs to "rear" would shut off the speaker-level signal to the rears from the HU?

And you will need RCA splitters for that amp.
Hm, I hadn't thought of doing that, running 4 channels from a single set of pre-outs. I think I'll have an EQ, though, based on an earlier recommendation from someone in this forum //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I was planning to run one set of RCAs from the HU pre-outs to the EQ, and 2 sets of RCAs from the sub/front EQ outs to the amp.

Awesome, I'll just leave the rears hooked up to the HU and hope for the best.
