Just finished the box today. I made it as square as possible and got it to sit flush against the back wall to act as a tray. Correction My buddy actually built it lol. So now that I have a usable back seat again with storage ability I want to paint the box with some sort of bed liner type paint from dupli-color or whoever. My question is should I shoot it in primer first? I wasn't sure if its a bad idea to shoot it with bed liner paint right from the get go. Thx for any advice and please ignore the wire mess. Losing my track in the back uncovered all my wires so I have to run those under the carpet when I get time.

That looks **** good.

Im waiting to see if I get any walf way decent responses in my box build thread and if not I may do some 8"sin my mega cab like you did here.

Thx, so far an 8" W7 ported has sounded the best in my regular cab. I have had a 12" ID sealed then ported. A ported SE12 and a ported IDmax 10". I am hoping the 4 8' sealed setup sounds the best. I really like the sound of 8" subs. They don't get low but have great impact.

Ive had my RE SX 12 for a while now but have only fed it 600w.I have a Powerbass 1500.1 just waiting to give the sub a work out and hope it does good in a truck haha.

Box does look clean, good craftsmanship. Personally, id carpet the box. Being you only have to get 2 sides looking good, it will be easy even for a beginner, and imo look more inconspicuous in that interior design that a painted box will. Get carpet to match the back wall and it will look pimp. Carpet is also very durable (good quality carpet anyway), doesnt get dusty looking, and is more skid resistant than a painted surface.

Ya know I had the idea of carpeting the box all but the very top piece. Would I like is to do black diamond plate on top which would be a pain but maybe I can find some sort of plastic material that has a black diamond plate look I can cut to fit. This way over time if that part gets jacked up from everything sliding around on it I can just replace that top piece vs. replacing the carpet if it was carpeted. I know of some carpet that matches almost dead on. I got the subs hooked up and I really like it. It does lack a little on the low end so I think ill put some pollyfill in to see if it helps. ID says .2 for a small enclosure , .35 for a normal enclosure and .45 for a large enclosure. I ended up with .365 so I think a little polyfill to work me closer to what the larger enclosure would sound like might help. Overall I am happy. Its louder then my single ported IDmax by a bit but of course not as low. I will say it has a better overall sound and is more accurate on the quick notes.

yea u can find plastic diamond plate anywhere (home depot) and if they dont have it in black, u cud always spray it w/ black bedliner for a KILLER look >:p VERY clean looking box! Becareful w/ those wires tho... they look VERY taught

Thx, Yeah the wires look tight but not really as bad as it looks. I was thinking of putting some type of support in place and might go back and do that. I **** at carpeting so might have a local shop do it for me. They have the carpet in stock also. Can anyone recommend a good starting point on polyfill? Which brand/density/ and amount to use? I think it could use a hair more low end even though they are 8's I know they can go lower then they sound now. Couple new pics. I shot it in primer/sealer but may end up carpeting it now so probably a waste of time.

Polyfill really helped. Debating if going back to 4oz instead of 6oz will make any difference. Lost a little impact after the polyfill but it really smoothed out the sound.

Polyfil can make a difference, but not a drastic one. Be aware of psychoacoustics.
Enclosure is looking good.
Going from none to 6oz (5.8oz = 1lb per cubic foot rule) made a pretty good difference. Box had some sort of resonance it seemed and the subs had a hard time playing anything low which all changed after adding polyfill. If removing 2oz wont make a difference I wont even bother with it. It still has decent impact. I have it crossed at 80hz 24db slope. Not sure if that is helping or hurting.

Well I have decided to carpet the front , sides, and the lip up and over the box. The very top I have ordered some diamond plate which I will cut to fit inside the lip. I am then sending it off to get powder coated in Silver Vein which I hope in the end will look really good and remain a surface I can throw crap on top off without jacking it up. I will post final pics when I am done. I have to admit these 4 8" subs keep sounding better and better as time goes on. They eat the power from my JL 1000/1 V2 with no problem. Thanks for all the posts and advice. Gotta love this forum!
