Just wanted to show my new box. It's not all the way done, still have to bolt in the threaded rod and run the speaker wire. Yeah I know, I got sloppy with the paint, oh well. 4.4 cubes before displacement and about 4.2 afterwards, tuned to around 35 hz. Tuning will be dropped if I'm not happy with it.

Increases spl because there's less turbulance inside of the box.

if they are precision ports...im sure he screwed them in and sealed them up with sealant.

There's actually a piece of sheet metal inside, and the ports are screwed to the sheet metal instead of the mdf, it holds much better that way. There is weather stripping underneath of the port lip to help seal. There's also duct tape around the ports on the inside to make them smoother and seal it better. WOW you went overboard on mounting the ports! Silicon around the mounting lip and screws are more than enough. I had to take the ports out of my old boxes many times and after you unscrew it, you still have to silicon to deal with and it was a B*TCH to get off. It's very strong, took some MDF off of the box when I was pulling them out.

And no, externals don't sound different than internals, at least to my ears.

Yeah I'm hoping that it gets loud. I'm shooting for atleast a 145+ with this as my daily box. My spl box will be a bit different.
